My apologies to Peaches and Herb. . .last fall I posted these 3 images of Flashback Racing at Road Atlanta in 1983, reminiscing about the fact
that 40 years had passed since I’d owned and raced my beloved Triumph TR3, which I’d lovingly built during my first year of marriage.
Within a few days two of my long time SCCA racing buddies told me that they knew where my old chariot was… and worst of all… they told me it was FOR SALE!
Fast Forward to February 1, 2024 – after a 500-mile dash to Charlotte NC and the exchange of legal tender, I was reunited with my first nationally competitive race car.
The car was almost completely intact from the day I stepped out of it, right down to the 1983 Champion Spark Plug Road Racing Classic decal on the right front fender.
Thanks to Vernon Brannon for selling me the car, thanks to my good friend Tony Chiles for riding shotgun on the 1000-mile recovery trip, and special thanks to my loving spouse Connie for tolerating my addiction to old cars – especially old race cars.
