Flashback Racing’s 2024 New Year’s Resolution is to complete a dozen unfinished automotive projects.
Up first in January is this wheel and tire upgrade for my ’67 VW Beetle. I acquired this wheel and tire upgrade in the summer of 2022 and just recently bought and painted 4 new brake drums and a wheel mounting kit. The Beetle is up on jack stands, and it didn’t take too long to hit the first couple of speed bumps – the passenger side rear axle boot is leaking and the front wheel bearings should be replaced.
While waiting for parts I decided to call an audible on this project: I also acquired a vintage 5-foot surfboard and a trashed-out beetle roof rack when I bought the
wheels and tires years earlier. I recently purchased a new stainless steel roof rack and salvaged the surf board.
By the time I had the roof rack constructed and installed, the missing parts arrived and I was able to finish up my January project on time.
I really like the new look.
